On June 19, 2025, the bulk carrier Medi Giannutri, operated by NYK Line, played a crucial role in a dramatic rescue mission in the Pacific Ocean. Responding to a distress call coordinated by the US Coast Guard, the vessel, which was on its way to Long Beach, California, promptly altered its course to assist two sailors stranded on a disabled sailboat.
Without hesitation, the crew navigated towards the location of the troubled vessel. Thankfully, the two sailors were successfully brought aboard the Medi Giannutri, where they were later confirmed to be in good health. They disembarked safely in Long Beach on June 23.
The ship is helmed by Captain Daniil Terletsky and sails under the Liberian flag. Measuring 235 meters long and 38 meters wide, it boasts a gross tonnage of 89,365 metric tons. The Medi Giannutri primarily transports large quantities of bulk cargo, including coal, grain, and ore.
