A new logistics company has emerged in Louisiana, taking on the challenge of providing US-based, veteran-owned solutions for capital projects throughout the Gulf Coast region. Gulf of America Logistics (GOAL), based in Bossier City, is entering the fray at a time when massive investments in energy infrastructure and business ventures are on the rise.
Led by Brent Patterson, a US Navy logistics veteran and former senior vice president at Blue Water Shipping, GOAL aims to support clients engaged in major capital initiatives across various sectors, including LNG, petrochemicals, power generation, and infrastructure. Patterson remarked, "The Gulf Coast is currently one of the hottest markets for capital projects in North America." He highlighted the increasing demand for heavy-lift and specialized transportation services, noting the scarcity of local providers to meet this need. "GOAL is here to change that," he added.
The management team at GOAL brings together technical expertise, local regulatory knowledge, and political insight. They offer a wide range of logistics services, including transportation engineering, feasibility studies, barging, rail and trucking, chartering, customs clearance, and HSSEQ compliance.
With extensive experience not only in project execution but also in navigating Louisiana's complex regulatory landscape, which includes permitting and levee programs, Patterson emphasized, "We’ve lived and worked through the Gulf’s hurricanes, tides, and terrain. This local understanding is invaluable for mitigating the inherent risks of operating in such a challenging area."
Patterson also noted that while GOAL primarily focuses on supporting US capital projects, they also provide global third-party logistics (3PL) support and multimodal solutions through their extensive network.
The leadership team has been further strengthened by the addition of Rock Bordelon, owner and CEO of Allegiance Health Management, who joins GOAL as a partner. Bordelon is a well-respected Louisiana entrepreneur with deep connections to the region's industry and regulatory landscape, bringing invaluable local insight and business acumen. Joining him is Chuck Paddock, a former executive at Ceres Barge Line, who is an expert in metals and inland waterways, along with Keith Lincoln, GOAL’s vice president of operations and former director of logistics at Bertling Logistics Inc.
With over 20 years of experience in global projects, the team is well-equipped to provide forwarding, barge, trucking, rail, and EPC expertise crucial for supporting the significant investments taking place in the Gulf, Patterson stated. "As barge and other asset capacities tighten, we’re prepared with solutions in place."
Currently, GOAL is in the process of securing a port facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, and has negotiated an exclusive agreement to offer asset-based trucking services in the area. Patterson acknowledged the growing America First agenda, stating, "We’re part of that movement. We want to ensure that logistics contracts and the jobs they create remain within the US. We are helping to streamline the supply chain, reduce risks for projects, and deliver value for builders, EPCs, and OEMs."
