DG Shipping Advises All Indian Seafarers In Iranian Ports To Exercise Caution

The Directorate General of Shipping has issued a crucial advisory for Indian seafarers and vessels flying the Indian flag operating in Iranian ports or navigating through the Strait of Hormuz. This warning comes in light of Israel's recent military actions against Iran.

Seafarers are urged to remain alert, avoid unnecessary movements, and adhere strictly to local safety protocols and regulations for their own safety. Shipping companies, RPSL organizations, and maritime stakeholders are also encouraged to monitor the security of their crew and vessels closely while staying informed through official channels.

According to international reports, Israel has conducted operations at various locations within Iran. In a recent statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, emphasizing that they are closely monitoring the situation, including reports of attacks on nuclear facilities.

India has called for all parties to refrain from escalating tensions. The MEA further highlighted the need for existing diplomatic channels to be utilized in order to de-escalate the situation and address the root causes of the conflict. India values its strong and friendly relations with both nations and stands ready to provide any possible support.
